Blacktip reef sharks are easily recognizable due to their distinctive black-tipped dorsal fins and slender bodies. They typically inhabit shallow coral reefs, where they feed on small fish and crustaceans. These sharks are generally timid and pose little threat to humans, preferring to avoid close contact.

Koh Bida Nok, the larger of the two Koh Bida Islands, is a dive site that beckons adventurers from across the globe.
One of the highlights of Koh Bida Nok is its encounters with majestic blacktip reef sharks. These graceful creatures, with their distinctive black-tipped fins, make occasional appearances, adding an extra thrill to your dive. Witnessing these sharks gliding effortlessly through the water is an awe-inspiring experience that stays etched in your memory.
Beyond the blacktip reef sharks, Koh Bida Nok is home to an abundance of marine life. Schools of tropical fish navigate the reefs, while moray eels peek out from crevices, and colorful nudibranchs adorn the coral walls. Turtles gracefully swim by, and if you’re lucky, you may spot a leopard shark resting on the sandy seabed.

Situated near Koh Bida Nok, Koh Bida Nai is the smaller of the two islands. It features beautiful coral gardens, swim-throughs, and an abundance of marine creatures, including reef sharks and turtles.

The waters surrounding Koh Bida Nai are home to a rich diversity of marine species. Encounter curious moray eels peering out from their rocky hideouts and spot camouflaged seahorses and vibrant nudibranchs.

Also known as “Rock Bida,” this dive site is located between Koh Bida Nok and Koh Lanta. It is characterized by its striking rock formations that rise from the depths of the Andaman Sea. These rocky outcrops create an intriguing underwater landscape and serve as a habitat for a diverse range of marine life. The site is renowned for its vibrant coral growth and an abundance of marine species.
At Hin Bida can often be found, leopard sharks resting on the sandy seabed, particularly in the vicinity of the rock formations and coral reefs. They prefer shallow, sandy areas where they can blend in with their surroundings and rest during the day. Divers may encounter them lying motionless on the ocean floor, often partially buried in the sand.
These encounters with leopard sharks at Hin Bida provide divers with a unique opportunity to observe these magnificent creatures up close. It’s important to approach them calmly and maintain a respectful distance to avoid disturbing or stressing the sharks.

Koh Bida is located in the Andaman Sea, approximately 30 kilometers north-west of Koh Lanta, The distance between Koh Bida islands and Koh Lanta can be covered by boat in around 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on sea conditions and the speed of the vessel.
