SSI Instructor Training

Great to hear you’re thinking of coming to our beautiful island. Ko Lanta is a fantastic tropical island paradise with great diving & snorkeling right on our door step.

 We are currently offering only SSI, so you have no choice to make. The reason we offer only SSI is that our dive shop teaches around 95% SSI recreational courses, but at Open Water Diver level especially, our customers tend to prefer the flexibility SSI offers. 

Our aim is not only to make you confident in the classroom and pool, but to give you a good understanding on how SSI dive courses are constructed. Together we’ll take an in-depth look into the skills and theory behind each scuba diving course you’ll teach in the future, so by the time you start your first course, you’ll feel ready and confident. The ITC gives you the opportunity to practice, practice and practice. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. It’s better to make them here and learn from them so they don’t happen on a real course. The ITC isn’t so much a pass / fail course but more a preparation for the IE (Instructor Evaluation). 

Your Instructor Trainer will decide when you’re ready for the final step, the IE. If not, you might be advised to gain more experience working as an assistant with other instructors before moving on to the IE. Don’t be afraid, this doesn’t happen often. But we want to make sure that only good, safe, knowledgeable and motivated people become SSI Open Water Instructors. Teaching people to dive is both demanding and fun. You’ll have a big responsibility over your students, but it’s also very rewarding to see the big smiles on your student’s faces at the end of the day. Simply speaking…working as an Open Water Instructor is probably one of the best jobs in the world!
