SSI Scuba Diver Course
Course Duration: 2 Days
Minimum Age: 10 Years
The SSI Scuba Diver course is a beginner-level certification program offered by Scuba Schools International (SSI). It is designed for individuals who want to learn how to scuba dive but may have limited time or may not be ready to commit to the full Open Water Diver certification.
How does the Scuba Diver Course look like
During your Schuba Diver course you’ll learn the basic principles of scuba diving, including dive physics, physiology, equipment, and safety procedures. SSI provides learning materials like manuals and online modules to study at your own pace.
In a controlled environment, such as a pool or confined water area, you’ll practice essential scuba skills. This includes learning how to use scuba equipment, proper breathing techniques, underwater communication, and safety procedures.
Theory and confined water exercise usually last around 4 hours and need to be completed before you jump into underwater world.
During next day of your training you’ll complete a minimum of two open water dives under the supervision of an SSI Instructor. These dives typically take place in one of the best diving spots near Lanta such as Koh Haa or Koh Bida.
What are the differences between Scuba Diver Course and Open Water Diver Course
The Open Water Diver course is a full certification course, while the Scuba Diver course is a limited certification course. Upon completing the Open Water Diver course, you become a certified diver with more independence and fewer restrictions, whereas the Scuba Diver certification has depth and supervision limitations.
Open Water Divers are typically certified to dive up to a maximum depth of 18 meters (60 feet) independently or with a buddy, depending on local regulations. In contrast, Scuba Divers are limited to a maximum depth of 12 meters (40 feet) and must always dive under the direct supervision of a professional diver.
The Scuba Diver course is shorter in duration, usually completed in a shorter timeframe, and covers the basics necessary for diving under direct supervision.
The Scuba Diver certification can serve as a stepping stone to the Open Water Diver certification if the diver decides to pursue further training.
Palm Beach Divers organizes Scuba Diver Course every day.
